Nancy Denise Lewellen Duncan, 65

November 8, 1958 – July 11, 2024

On Thursday morning July 11, 2024, Nancy Denise Lewellen Duncan, 65, resident of Tippah County, saw her Lord and finished her race, as she transitioned to her Heavenly home surrounded by her loved ones.

A Service celebrating the well lived life of Nancy will be held at 3 PM Sunday July 14, 2024, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Dr. Jack Bennett officiating. Visitation will be from 1 PM until 3 PM on Sunday July 14, 2024, at the Ripley Funeral Home. The family request on Nancy’s behalf that everyone dress casually, come as you are, fellowship with one other, and please wear a “big floppy hat” as that’s what Nancy would want.

Born November 8, 1958, in Memphis Tennessee, Nancy was one of three children belonging to James Olin and Ann Anderson Lewellen. She was a graduate of Pine Grove High School, and continued her education at Blue Mountain Christian College, receiving a degree in Nursing. A person who loved helping others, Nancy was employed with Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany, and Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth for multiple years, before accepting a job as a traveling nurse. While working as a traveling nurse, Nancy was blessed with the opportunity to visit many places. Between caring for her family in Tippah County, to nursing those in need in California, Nancy grew to love being by the ocean and taking trips to the beach.

Although Nancy was unable to travel after her health declined, she never let it get the best of her. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, and loved attending worship services there when she was able. Her love did not just stop for people, as she had a big heart for taking in stray cats and dogs. She enjoyed the finer things in life, always treating herself to new clothes, and shopping trips often.  She was not one to shop with though, as her daughter in law said, she had to go up and down all the isles, and look, touch, pick up, and even smell everything she passed. She was always the life of the party, especially ajoined by her best friend, Wanette, and sister, Sharon. Those three where inseparable, keeping each other up to date with the latest gossip, hanging out whenever they could, and laughing until there sides hurt. Every year Nancy would host the annual “Hen Party” at her home, were all the “Chicks” would get together, always sharing their annual cake and food, reminiscing on old times, and celebrating all these years of friendship. Nancy just had a shine about her, and people were drawn to her, because she encouraged others, laughed as often as possible, and invested in quality time with those she loved. So today, Nancy would want us to know to not only tell, but show your friends how important they are, hug and talk to family as much as possible, tell people you love them, and most importantly, enjoy life and live it to its absolute fullest.

Those left to cherish her memories include her husband, Bradley Rogers, one son, Craig Duncan (Dana), one sister, Sharon Perkins (Johnnie), one brother, David Lewellen (Marjorie) one grandson, Brody, her nieces and nephews, Cindi, Chad, Amanda, Ashley, Brandi, and Jennifer, her “sister from another mister” and best friend for over forty years, Wanette Lindsey.

As Nancy had a great love for nursing, animals, and church, the family request that donations be made in her memory to any charity or origination that best honors her.
