New Albany Home & Garden Show draws large crowd
The Union County Master Gardeners moved their 2016 New Albany Home & Garden Show to the downtown area this year. Though they built a garden gate entry for the Courthouse lawn, it was still a little more difficult to “count the crowd” in the new, wide-spread location. But, there is no doubt that attendance was good.
Visitors to the show had a beautiful day for wandering the downtown area to check out multiple vendors, attend the featured programs at the Courthouse and the Magnolia Civic Center, plan their own food and flower gardens, and visit with friends and neighbors.
Among the speakers were horticulturist Gail Barton, “The Garden Alphabet” author Laurie Parker and Shannon McGee, DVM. Also to be had were home decorating ideas, cooking demonstrations, a tractor show and, of course, food and music.
The major entry in the food category was a special brunch prepared by three chefs with local connections, Lezlie Simmons, Christine Brown and Samantha Allen, to benefit the Biscuits and Jam Farmers’ Market.
