Sometimes the best way to learn something is to teach someone else, and, when learning a new skill, it is always a plus to know how it may be of future use to you or others. Students teaching students is a win:win situation for all involved.

On Thursday, March 9, several students from Alison Moore’s oral and electronic communication classes at the NAHS School of Career & Technical Education visited the New Albany Middle School. The high school students prepared presentations about various careers and delivered the presentations to the eighth graders. Following the presentations, the students answered questions about the careers they discussed and about high school in general.

Students in Christy Pipkin’s 4th grade math classes at New Albany Elementary School have been studying measurement.  On March 24, Anita Alef’s Culinary Arts classes from the New Albany High School of Career & Technical Education assisted with the lesson.  Alef’s students set up four stations that reinforced concepts related to measurement and introduced students to culinary tips.  Stations included measuring liquids, measuring dry ingredients, sifting, and snack making.  The lesson and activities were developed and coordinated by Zach Gory, student teacher.
