New Albany takes advantage of chance to sign up locally for MS’s cell phone “No-Call List”

Twenty or so people came to the Union County Courthouse this morning to sign up for Mississippi’s new “No-Call List” for cell phones. Before a Public Service Commission (PSC) order earlier this month, only land-line phones could be placed on the No Call list in Mississip. Now solicitation calls and text messages are subject to the jurisdiction of the Commission.

North District Commissioner Presley, who is chairman of the PSC, has said several times that he has been looking forward to having this authority, and thanks the MS Legislature for changing the law to include cell phones, as s0 many people now use them as their primary or only telephone.

Mississippians who wish to add their cellular telephone numbers to the No Call list may also contact the PSC at 1-800-356-6428 or online at www. psc.state.ms.us/nocall. It takes sixty days for the No Call order to take effect.
