New Albany Tourism Partners with Legends Magazine for new Visitors Guide

NEW ALBANY, MS – Tourism officials in New Albany are teaming up with LEGENDS magazine, an award-winning travel and tourism statewide magazine to produce an official tourism guide for the city.

The new guide, titled “Get to Know New Albany”, will be published twice yearly and be distributed at the state’s visitor’s centers, kiosks along the Tanglefoot Trail and local businesses as well as in local hotel rooms and area restaurants. Additionally, the guide will be sent in printed and digital form to those requesting information about New Albany and the Tanglefoot Trail.

“We are extremely pleased to be working on this project with LEGENDS Magazine,” says Sean Johnson, the city’s director of Tourism. “LEGENDS has done a number of articles on New Albany events and attractions in the last year that have made the city look wonderful. Having such a magazine develop a mini magazine specific to New Albany is a truly incredible opportunity.”

Legends magazine, founded in 2009 is billed as the magazine of “culture and arts from the birthplace of American music” and covers events, people and points of interest in Mississippi and the immediate region. It was named the state’s best travel publication by the Mississippi Tourism Authority in both 2013 and 2014.

Legends has published a number of features covering New Albany events and attractions, such as Down from the Hills, Biscuits & Jam Farmers’ Market, Riverfest, the Wolf Preserve and more.

“One of the things that I like best about the magazine is that it showcases the best parts of our state on a statewide basis. While many other publications cover a single part the state, LEGENDS connects the entire state. For instance, the March issue has Morgan Freeman in Clarksdale on the cover and a beautiful story about New Albany’s Biscuits & Jam Farmers Market on the inside. Last year New Albany had a beautiful cover story about the Down from the Hills Bluegrass Festival. This type of attractive and positive exposure presents New Albany in a very good light,” Johnson continued.

The new visitor’s guide to be published by LEGENDS for the summer season will include stories on New Albany attractions such as the Tanglefoot Trail and Wolf Preserve, and major events, like Riverfest, as well as featurettes on area restaurants and lodging.
