New Albany – Union County Christmas Parade to Bring Holiday Magic with “Miracle on Bankhead Street: Classic Christmas Movies” Theme
The New Albany- Union County Christmas Parade will take over downtown Bankhead Street in a spectacular display of holiday cheer on Monday November 27, 2023. This year’s theme, “Miracle on Bankhead Street: Classic Christmas Movies,” invites participants to incorporate their favorite festive films into their float or group designs. The parade committee will provide participants with lineup and staging information.
Moises Lemus named Grand Marshal
The highlight of the event will be the Grand Marshal, Moises Lemus, a renowned restaurateur and beloved member of the New Albany community. Lemus, a long-time resident and dedicated community servant, has made a lasting impact through his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of his fellow citizens. As an advocate and minority business leader, Lemus has not only enriched his hometown but also inspired countless others to follow in his footsteps.
Billye Jean Stroud, Community Development Director and Main Street Manager, expressed the committee’s excitement in selecting Lemus as the Grand Marshal. “In a community that values diversity, unity, and a commitment to service, Moises Lemus exemplifies these qualities, making him the perfect choice to lead this year’s parade,” Stroud said. The committee recognized Lemus for his outstanding contributions to the community, both through his service to others and as a shining example of the positive impact that hard work and risk-taking can have on a community.
Lemus is actively involved in numerous community initiatives, including serving on the UNITE Board of Directors. However, his most significant contribution lies in his investment in multiple businesses in New Albany. One notable addition to the historic downtown district is Nico’s Restaurant, which has been eagerly anticipated by locals. Stroud praised Lemus’s service-mindedness, servant’s heart, and association with acts of kindness, volunteering, and philanthropy, stating that he embodies a deep sense of responsibility to contribute to the greater good.
Moises Lemus, married to Andrea Lemus and proud parent to Santi, Ellie, and Nico, also owns El Agave Mexican Restaurants in Oxford, Southaven, Tupelo, and New Albany, as well as New Albany Wine and Spirits.
