Another tree causes damage on North Side
The Historic North Side of New Albany fell victim to another tree about 6 p.m. Tuesday, but it did not cause as much damage as the one that fell Saturday.
A large tree broke off, landing across Madison Avenue between Cleveland Street and Garfield.
The tree damaged at least one utility pole and pulled lines down, but apparently the damage and any power outage was not as widespread as that which occurred Saturday.
In the incident Saturday a tree being cut at the Union Lumber Company damaged lines and broke poles over a five-block stretch. Power was out five hours or more and crews were reported to still be repairing the damage the next morning.
City crews were on the scene quickly Tuesday, cutting the tree up and removing it so the lines could be checked.
