Still no information released concerning Alpine homicide

As of about 4 p.m. Tuesday, Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards said that he still cannot release any information concerning the investigation into an apparent homicide this past week.

Deputies found the body Friday morning of a woman who appeared to have been shot outside a residence on County Road 225 in the Alpine community in the eastern part of the county.

A separate official source to NEMiss.news has identified the victim as Sheree Whitt, believed to be in her late 40s.

Her body is in Jackson for autopsy as part of the continuing investigation into her death.

State investigators were called in to aid in the investigation.
