Search going on in Ingomar area for suspected Walnut auto thief

Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards reported at 5:15 that they were still searching for the suspect.

County and state law enforcement officers have been searching the Ingomar area for the past hour or so looking for a suspect accused of taking a vehicle in Walnut.
WTVA reports that the suspect took an SUV sometime around 3 p.m. while the owner was in the Walnut post office and MHP Troopers later spotted the vehicle and gave chase.
The chase came through the New Albany area and the suspect eventually abandoned the vehicle in the Long Bottom area of southern Union County. Walnut is in the northern part of Tippah County.
The only description for the suspect is that he is a white male with tattoos.
Anyone who has information about the suspect or the incident is asked to call the Union County Sheriff’s Department at 662-534-1943 or 911.
