Oklahoma woman, 80, vanishes while searching for missing son and his friend
Glenda “Cookie” Parton, 80, has disappeared in the Tulsa area while searching for her missing son Dwayne Selby, 59 and his friend Jack Grimes, 76. Late last month, Selby and Grimes planned to drive to Ft. Worth, TX, for a horse show. The pair never arrived and were last heard from on Oct. 22. They were last seen at a restaurant in Purcell, OK.
Parton then went searching for the pair herself. She was last captured on surveillance footage in a Turley, OK, business. She was talking to a man, who has since been identified and interviewed by police. Parton’s vehicle, a 2016 red Kia Rio, was found abandoned on the side of the road in Tulsa on Oct. 26.
On Sunday, Oct. 31, police announced that hunters had discovered human remains in a wooded area near Turley. Due to animal activity, police were not immediately able to identify the remains. They have since been identified as being those of Selby’s friend Jack Grimes, 76. Police are now investigating the case as a homicide.
No trace of Selby or his mother Cookie has yet surfaced and police haven’t ruled out the possibility that they might also have met with foul play. Anyone with information about Selby or Ms. Parton should contact the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office immediately. NEMISS.NEWS will be following this story for any further updates.

Kirk Douglas sexually assaulted teenaged Natalie Wood, sister alleges
Lana Wood, now 75, is the younger sister of Hollywood star Natalie Wood. Lana has released a memoir which centers on her sister’s mysterious 1981 death after falling off her husband Robert Wagner’s boat. Authorities officially ruled the death to be an accidental drowning. But the story has evolved after years of scrutiny and testimony from more witnesses. Wagner is now considered a person of interest in Natalie’s death, and Lana is among those who hold him responsible.
But Lana Wood dropped another bombshell in her new memoir Little Sister. Lana confirmed years of rumor and internet speculation alleging that Kirk Douglas subjected Natalie to an hours-long sexual assault in his hotel room at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. The assault allegedly took place in the summer of 1955, around the time of Natalie’s 17th birthday. At the time, Natalie was filming her role in “The Searchers” alongside John Wayne. She had already appeared in her Oscar-nominated role in “Rebel Without a Cause”, starring James Dean.
“Suck it up”
By that time, Douglas, then in his late 30s, was already a superstar, having starred in “Spartacus”, arguably his most memorable role. Lana and Natalie’s mother Maria Zakharenko had arranged the meeting, hoping it would open doors for Natalie’s career. Lana was only a child at the time of the encounter, but remembers her sister returning to the parked car where she and their mother were waiting outside the hotel. Natalie was disheveled and visibly upset. But their mother Maria advised her daughter to “suck it up”, and convinced Natalie her career would be over if they accused Douglas publicly.
Natalie did go on to have a successful career, starring in “West Side Story”, “Gypsy” and “Splendor in the Grass”. Douglas went on to receive many accolades throughout his distinguished career. This included an honorary Oscar in 1996, when the film academy praised Douglas as “a creative and moral force”. When Douglas died last year at age 103, Natalie Wood’s name trended on Twitter, though many didn’t know the reason.
Through his publicist, Douglas’ son, A-list actor Michael Douglas, issued the laconic statement: “May they both rest in peace”.

Iran agrees to resume nuclear talks this month
After a 5-month hiatus, it looks as though negotiations to restore the Iran nuclear deal may resume at the end of this month. Formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (or JCPOA), the plan places strict limits on Iran’s nuclear refinement program in exchange for sanctions relief. The deal was finalized in 2015 and all sides were honoring their part of the bargain. That was until 2018 when former President Trump unilaterally withdrew the U.S. from the deal and reinstated crippling economic sanctions on Iran.
When President Biden came into office, talks to restore the JCPOA got off to a slow start. Then in June, Iran elected a new hardliey ne government, leaving the fate of the talks up in the air.
Now, Tehran has said it will join renewed talks on Nov. 29. European nations who signed onto the 2015 deal are mediating the talks and hope that they will yield quick results.
Last week, President Biden offered an olive branch to Tehran, pledging the U.S. would honor the deal as long as Iran returned to compliance. Tehran has faced increasing pressure to rejoin the talks. The sanctions have prevented Iran from receiving much needed economic and medical aid during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tehran’s reluctance to dial back their nuclear program without guarantees from the U.S. have also stoked military tensions in the region, most notably with Israel.
