Penny Carter, 62
February 12, 1964 – May 24, 2026
Penny Sue Ivey Carter passed away on May 24, 2026, at her residence in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. She was born on February 12, 1964, in New Albany, Mississippi, and lived a life marked by kindness, faith, and devotion to the people she loved.
Penny was a loving, kind, and friendly woman whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her. She was a devoted wife to Bobby Carter and a proud mother to her three sons, Adam Carter, Eric Carter, and Johnathan Carter and his wife, Rose. Her greatest joy came from her family, and she treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. She was especially proud of her three grandsons, Noe Carter, Jacob Carter, and Bruce Carter, and she cherished the laughter and memories they shared.
She is survived by her mother, Carolyn Davis Ivey; her husband, Bobby Carter; her sons, Adam Carter, Eric Carter, and Johnathan Carter and Rose; her grandsons, Noe Carter, Jacob Carter, and Bruce Carter; her sisters, Anita Culver and her husband, Wade, and Vickie Ervin; her sisters-in-law, Onice Carter and Debbie York; and her brother-in-law, Robert Taylor. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will remember her with love and gratitude.
Penny was preceded in death by her father, Calvin Coolidge Ivey; her twin sister, Peggy Taylor; her brothers, Dennis York and Keith Ivey; and her brother-in-law, Glen Ervin. These loved ones welcomed her home, and their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.
Before becoming disabled, Penny worked at Kevin Charles Mfg., where she was known for her steady work ethic and dependable nature. She carried that same spirit into every part of her life. She was a Christian and loved attending church, where she was a faithful member of Victory Life Church in New Albany. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and it guided the way she lived each day.
Penny enjoyed simple pleasures that brought her happiness. She liked going to yard sales and watching old television shows such as Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons, as well as American Pickers. She also had a fondness for flowers and big, really big purses. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and those moments were among the most meaningful of her life.
Penny will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her loving heart, and the kindness she showed to others. Her family and friends will forever hold close the memories of her faith, her laughter, and the many ways she made life brighter for those around her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A visitation will be on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Victory Life Church from 12:00 p.m. until funeral service time at 2:00 p.m. Bro. Mark Bishop will officiate. Burial will be at Kirkville Cemetery in Prentiss County.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
