NA Police investigating death of 18-year-old

New Albany police are investigating the death of an 18-year-old male who was found unresponsive Tuesday night.

Police Chief Chris Robertson did not want to identify the victim pending investigation but said no evidence of foul play was evident and the cause of death remains unknown.

Officials received a 911 call about 9 p.m. that friends of the victim had found him in his car, unresponsive, behind New Albany Quickmart.

Officers and medical personnel went to the scene, performing CPR as he was being treated before transport to the hospital, where he died.

“I don’t believe there was foul play but we are having to look at all possibilities,” Chief Robertson said. He did confirm that the victim was a student at East Union Attendance Center.
