Police still need help in solving gas station break-in

,

New Albany police are asking the public for help in solving a break-in that occurred early Monday morning.

Chief Chris Robertson said someone broke into the old 76 filling station at 414 Hwy. 15 S. sometime between midnight and 3 a.m.

The suspect or suspects entered through the back door and took a safe and cash register.

Robertson said they have video of a silver sedan, make and model unknown, that is a vehicle of interest. The vehicle had either a paper tag, drive-out tag or the license plate may have been covered.

Robertson said they have multiple witnesses that placed this vehicle of interest in the area around the time of the break-in.

Three or more suspects are believed to be associated with the vehicle and Robertson said they don’t believe the suspects are local.

The chief is asking anyone who might have information about the suspects, vehicle or crime, with special attention on what might have been seen in the Hwy. 15 S., Vine Street and Staten Avenue areas, to provide that information to the police department or call Crimestoppers of Northeast Mississippi. The police department number is 662-534-2222 and Crimestoppers is 1-800-773-8477.
