Randy Charles Tanner, 56
Randy Charles Tanner
December 1, 1962 – June 17, 2019
It is with heavy hearts we announce that Randy Tanner lost his battle against cancer the morning of June 17, 2019 at the North MIssissippi Medical Center in Tupelo at the age of 56. A life-long resident of the hills of northeast Mississippi, Randy was a master outdoorsman, humble Christian, animal lover and family man. He was born December 1, 1962 in Tupelo to his loving parents William ‘Bud’ Tanner and Margaret (Beaty)Tanner of Union County. Randy was a 1981 graduate of Blue Mountain High School, attended Northeast Mississippi Community College and served as a supply warehouseman in the United States Air Force in Minot, North Dakota.
Randy was happiest when he was in the outdoors. He had an extraordinary passion for white-tail deer that led to the large collection of trophy antlers on his walls. He was most happy in the pursuit of game accompanied by his father, son, brothers, nephews and cousins. We will miss his exuberance for life and big booming voice that would echo through the bottom loud enough for anyone to hear for many miles.
He is survived by his parents Bud and Margaret Tanner of Blue Mountain, MS, one son Sam Tanner, daughter-in-law Ashley Tanner, grandson Kai Tanner all of Woodland, CA, granddaughter Zara Tanner of New Albany, MS and fiancée Tabatha Stanford of Blue Springs, MS. He is also survived by two brothers Tommy Tanner (Betty Jo) and Lee Tanner of Blue Mountain, MS and one sister Lorrie Tanner McDermott (Patrick) of Collierville, TN, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, June 22nd at United Funeral Services in New Albany, MS. The family will receive friends and visitors for two hours prior to the service from 1pm to 3pm.
