Rare High Wind Warning for Northeast Mississippi
A rare “High Wind Warning” for northeast Mississippi and other parts of the mid-South has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS).
Wind gusts of up to 60 mph are expected after daylight on Friday, March 3, as the storm system of the last two days plays out and moves east.
People are urged to secure loose objects that may be blown around outside. The heavy rains have saturated the ground during the last 48 hours. This creates the possibility of trees being uprooted by the high wind gusts.
The last rainstorms in the system should be over by sometime Friday morning. The High Wind Warning extends during the daylight hours on Friday.
Thanks to Union County Emergency Management Director Curt Clayton for bringing the unusual NWS High Wind Warning to the attention of NEMiss.News readers
