Raymond D. Spencer, Jr., 69
May 10, 1956 – May 5, 2026
A life marked by hard work, laughter, and a genuine love for people, Raymond D. Spencer Jr., lovingly known as “Ray” to all who knew him, departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday evening, May 5, 2026, in the comfort of his home surrounded by the love of his family.
In honoring Ray’s personal wishes, he will be cremated and no public services will be held at this time. His family deeply appreciates every act of kindness, prayer, and expression of love shown to them during this tender and difficult season of life.
Born on May 10, 1956, in Union County, Mississippi, Ray was the beloved son of the late Raymond “Bull” and Vivian Lively Spencer. He received his education from W. P. Daniel High School, where he excelled on the football field and was known for his determination and outgoing personality. Following graduation, he continued his education at Northeast Mississippi Community College before dedicating his life to the trade he loved most. For many years, Ray worked as a skilled carpenter and construction worker, building not only homes and furniture, but also lasting friendships with those fortunate enough to know him.
On life’s journey, Ray found his greatest blessing in his beloved wife, Remoana. For forty wonderful years, the two built a life centered around love, devotion, and family. Together they shared countless memories, weathered life’s seasons hand in hand, and created a home filled with warmth and laughter.
A Christian in faith, Ray possessed a spirit that naturally drew people to him. He never met a stranger and could light up any room with his cheerful personality, quick wit, and gift for storytelling. Whether sitting around sharing stories, cooking a meal for those he loved, or enjoying a day of fishing or football, Ray had a way of making ordinary moments feel special. Gifted with his hands, he especially loved woodworking and took great pride in crafting beautiful tables, chairs, and furniture pieces that will now serve as treasured reminders of his life and talent.
Though Ray wore many titles throughout his life—carpenter, storyteller, cook, fisherman, and friend—his most treasured role was that of husband and father. He devoted himself wholeheartedly to his family, striving daily to provide love, guidance, and unwavering support to those he cherished most. The memories he created, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of his family forever.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his faithful and loving wife of forty years, Remoana Spencer; his two sons, Raymond Lucas “Luke” Spencer and wife, Kelly, and Zachary Cayson Spencer and wife, Colina; along with a wide circle of extended family members and countless friends whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing him.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by those who welcomed him into Heaven before his passing.
“Some people leave behind possessions, while others leave behind memories. Ray leaves behind both — the work of his hands and the love of his heart.”
