Reminder about theatrical monologue coaching workshop Monday

NEMiss.news Monologue coaching Magnolia Civic Center

The Magnolia Civic Center is hosting a theatrical monologue coaching workshop Monday, Dec. 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. Civic center manager Emily Draffen wanted to remind everyone because this is coming right after the Christmas weekend.

Actor and New Albany resident Stephen Garrett will be coaching the workshop. He attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and is represented by Colors Talent Agency. For many years, he has performed in productions with Theatre Memphis, Playhouse on the Square, and others both in Memphis and Chicago.

For $10 a session, actors will receive 30 minutes of coaching on one to two monologues of their choice. “This is a great way to get prepared for future auditions or add another piece to your repertoire,” Draffen said.

Payment can be made ahead of time at the Main Street office (135 E. Bankhead St.) via cash or check.

“We recommend selecting two contrasting monologues (example: one dramatic and one comedic) and coming to your session as memorized as possible,” Draffen said. “If you need help finding or selecting monologues, please let us know. We’ll be happy to help.”
