Rickey Lynn Harris, affectionately known as “Rick” by his family and friends, peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal rest on January 11, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi surrounded. by his loving family. Born on September 28, 1972, in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, he was the third child of L.S. Harris and the late Patty Ann Hamilton Harris.
Rickey was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and cherished friend. A man of deep faith, he found joy and purpose in his church family at Cross Point Ministry, where he served faithfully as a Greeter, Usher, and member of the Grid Iron Men’s Ministry. His kindness and welcoming spirit left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
Rickey was a hard-working professional who dedicated 16 years to Ascend Trucking Company in Jackson, Tennessee, as a skilled truck driver. Outside of work, he was a passionate family man, treasuring every moment spent with his loved ones. He was his grandson’s biggest fan on the baseball field, a dedicated supporter of all sports, and a proud sports enthusiast known for his love of Nike apparel and unwavering loyalty to his favorite team, the New England Patriots.
On June 4, 2022, Rickey united in holy matrimony with the love of his life, Gloria Ann Thorn Harris. Together, they created a beautiful blended family filled with love and shared memories.
Rickey’s legacy lives on through those who will forever cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Gloria Ann Harris of Tupelo, MS; his children, Juwan Harris of Nettleton, MS; Jonah Webster of Tupelo, MS; Gelisa (Travis) Hubbert of Houston, MS; Kiara Murphy of Baldwyn, MS; and Oceana (Keon) McGaughy of Tupelo, MS; his stepchildren, Courtney (Matthew) Ervin of Fulton, MS; Heather (Steven) Martinez of Tupelo, MS; and Chase (Kinsey) Jarrell of Mooreville, MS; his father, L.S. Harris of Houston, MS; and his siblings, Ronnell Webb of Houston, MS; Sheron Henley of Detroit, MI; Chris (Quinn) Harris of Houston, MS; John (Ty) Harris of Houston, MS; and Shenia McShan of Atlanta, GA.
He also leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, including his special companions Stevan Fiorpiselli, Antione Humphrey, and Joel Stewart, who held a significant place in his heart.
Rickey was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Patty Ann Hamilton Harris, a special aunt, Judy Hamilton, and a sisterly cousin, Mary Hamilton.
Rickey’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and faith. His kindness, humor, and warm spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
