Robert Brownlee, 87

August 5, 1938  –  November 20, 2025

“Well done, my good and faithful servant.” We are certain these are the words that Robert Madison Brownlee heard as he was welcomed to his eternal home with Jesus on the evening of November 20, 2025. Robert was born on August 5, 1938, to Everad and Ellis Dodds Brownlee of Myrtle, MS. He attended Myrtle School, received a Bachelor of Arts from Mississippi State University, and went on to earn a Masters in Education from the University of Mississippi. Robert’s passion for teaching was evident throughout his thirty-seven and a half years in the New Albany School district. He loved teaching and guiding young minds, which only enhanced his love for learning. Robert was a lifelong and active member of Old Oak Grove Baptist Church, serving in many capacities including playing the piano faithfully and serving as a deacon. He loved his church, but most importantly, he loved Jesus and demonstrated his faith to everyone he came into contact with. He married the love of his life, Norma Jean Watson, and they have been blissfully in love for over 61 years. They were blessed with three wonderful children and five grandchildren. He also was passionate about working with cattle and crop farming. Robert worked diligently in everything that he did, demonstrating the importance of hard work to his children and instilling those same values in them. He will be remembered for his fervent love for the Lord, devotion to his family, and the incredible role model he was for all. He continually pushed those around him to pursue excellence, as he expected that from himself as well.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Norma Jean Brownlee, of Myrtle, MS; children, Scott (Sandy) Brownlee of Flora, MS, Jeff (Amy) Brownlee of Mooreville, MS, and Stacy (Scott) Williams of Tupelo, MS; brother, Johnnie (Charlotte) Brownlee of Tupelo, MS; grandchildren, Sarah Grace and Sam Brownlee of Flora, MS, Jared and Maggie Brooke Brownlee of Mooreville, MS, and Weston Williams of Tupelo, MS.

Pallbearers will be Layne Garth, Sam Dowdy, Narshal Weeden, Danny Thomas, Larry Millican, and Danny Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jared Brownlee, Sam Brownlee, and Weston Williams.
