Robert Edward Pannell, 76
February 1, 1950 – August 15, 2026
Robert Edward Pannell, known to family and friends as Robert, passed away on August 15, 2026, at his residence in Prentiss County, Mississippi, at the age of 76.
He was born on February 1, 1950, in New Albany, Mississippi, to the late Troy Edward Pannell and Margaret Norma Baggett Pannell. Robert lived a life marked by quiet strength, steady devotion, and a warm spirit that was remembered by all who knew him. He was a kind and friendly man whose presence brought comfort and familiarity to those around him.
Robert proudly served his country as a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that reflected his courage and commitment. Following his military service, he worked for many years as a furniture factory worker before retiring. He was also a faithful member of Keownville Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and a sense of belonging.
In his younger years, Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing, and throughout his life he found pleasure in playing the drums and watching movies. These simple interests brought him joy and reflected the easygoing nature that made him such a pleasant companion. He was known for his friendly manner and the genuine kindness he extended to others.
Robert is survived by his two daughters, Paula McCullough and Robbie Pannell; one brother, Randy Pannell; five grandchildren, Haley Pitts (Austin), Amy McCullough (Jessica), Will McCullough, Sheyanne Bullock, and Lauren Frazier; and three great-grandchildren, Ava Pitts, Kailey Pitts, and Layton Pitts. He also leaves behind many cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy Edward Pannell and Margaret Norma Baggett Pannell; his brother, Troy Steven Pannell; his sister, Barbara Forshea; and his great-grandson, Jacob Pitts. Robert’s family takes comfort in knowing that he is reunited with those who went before him.
Services to honor his life will be on Thursday, August 20, at 11:00am with a visitation from 9:30 – 11:00 all at United Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Keownville Cemetery.
