Robert Hugh “Bro. Bob” Posey

November 19, 1929 – October 11, 2025

Tupelo-Robert Hugh Posey was born in Lee County on November 19, 1929. He departed this life from the Coehn Greenhouse at United Methodist Senior Services-Traceway Manor on Saturday morning, October 11, 2025. Born to a remarkable pioneer Lee County family, Bob was the son of the late Altoona and Jeanette Estes Posey. His father and the original Posey children were grounded in the Richmond Community of Lee County and carried names of Shakespearian actors. Bob lived in Verona many years with his late wife, Bobbie Janelle Long Posey, who died in l999. He attended Ole Miss where he studied Pre-Med (Sciences) but was called by his Master to enter the ministry. He graduated with a MA Degree in Theology and Preaching from the New Orleans Baptist Seminary. Bro. Bob served in many capacities in his many years in ministry. He was a brilliant bible scholar and historian among many other talents.

A Graveside service is tentatively set for 2:30 PM on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Holland Funeral Directors will announce final plans early next week.

Bro. Bob is survived by his son, Steve and wife, Camille and daughter, Karen Posey Herring and her husband, Barry.
