Roger Dale Barnes, 68

July 13, 1957 – September 17, 2025

Roger Dale Barnes, age 68, and lifelong resident of the Walnut Community, departed this earthly world on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, unexpectedly at Magnolia Regional Hospital in Corinth, Mississippi.

Funeral services honoring his life will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home, with Bishop Gary Porterfield officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Monday, September 22, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until service time, all at Ripley Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born July 13, 1957, in Tippah County, Mr. Roger was the son of the late K. C. and Birdie Mae Null Barnes. He received his education from the Arkansas Public School System and Chalybeate School and was employed with the Moltan Corporation for twenty years before his retirement.

A Christian and a man of simple ways, Mr. Roger was best described as someone who lived life unapologetically in his own style. He had a true passion for drag racing, his love of fast cars rivaled only by his fondness for pretty women and a good laugh. He enjoyed the thrill of the occasional trip to Tunica, and he cherished any time spent surrounded by family and friends. Though he never sugar-coated his thoughts and was known to aggravate his brother at every opportunity, the bond they shared was unshakable. His family knew well that beneath his tough exterior beat a heart full of love and loyalty.

Above all, Mr. Roger was a proud father and grandfather. His daughter was the joy of his life, and his pride only grew as he watched his grandchildren grow into the blessings he held so dear.

Though his passing leaves a great void in the lives of those who loved him, his memory will forever be carried in the laughter he inspired, the honesty he lived by, and the devotion he held for his family.

Life may not always be fast cars, pretty women, and smooth roads, but Roger showed us that it’s best lived wide open, with laughter, love, and no regrets. His family finds comfort knowing that while he has crossed the finish line here, he now rests peacefully in his eternal home.

Sweet memories will continue to be remembered by one daughter, Melissa McMeans (Jay), three grandchildren, Tristin, Kaylie, and Dalton, one great granddaughter, Isabella Grace, one brother, Billy Barnes (Sally), and one sister, Katherine Maylene Patterson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kenneth Barnes, and one sister, Katie Henderson.

Ripley Funeral Home invites you to share memories with Mr. Roger’s family.
