Roger Franklin Elmore, 70

December 14, 1954  –  March 16, 2025

TUPELO – Roger Franklin Elmore, age 70, died Sunday, March 16, 2025. He was born December 14, 1954, in West Palm Beach, Florida, to the late Willam Henry “Bill” Elmore and Frances Pate Elmore. His family relocated to Tupelo, Mississippi, in 1965 when he was a young teen and he made the area his home for more than 50 years.

Roger attended Lawhon Junior High and graduated from Tupelo High School in 1973. Following high school he worked at Gravlee Lumber Company and then at Liberty National Life Insurance Company with his father for several years. He had a gift for carpentry and worked for the late Glyn Hester as a finish carpenter creating beautiful cabinetry and trim work for homes in the Tupelo area before moving into the landscape construction business at Southern Landscape. In 1997 Roger and his family moved to central Florida where he worked for Valleycrest Landscape Construction and Development as a foreman. While at Valleycrest his gift for detail work enabled him to bring value to many major projects in Central Florida and beyond through landscape construction and design at resorts and theme parks such as Disney World, Universal Studios, and Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. Eventually, Roger moved back to his hometown of Tupelo where he began working at Sanctuary Hospice House as maintenance manager. He found great joy in being there for others and loved the people with whom he worked.

Roger loved the outdoors. He spent his free time hunting, fishing, golfing, and gardening in his later years. Roger was a people person and never met a stranger. He loved his family and friends dearly and always had a smile on his face and a great sense of humor. Last, but certainly not least, we can never forget how much he loved the Lord and Alabama Crimson Tide football. Roll Tide!

A Time of visitation celebrating and remembering Roger’s life will take place at The Orchard on Thomas Street from 10 AM-Noon on Saturday, April 5, 2025. There will be no formal service.

Roger is survived by his oldest son, Ben Elmore of Tupelo; his only daughter, Betsy Elmore and son-in-law John Bardwell of Amherst, Virginia; his youngest son, Bryan Elmore of Tampa, Florida; his brother Terry (Ace) Elmore of Tupelo; his sister Kay Elmore Randle and brother-in-law Bill Randle of Cookeville, Tennessee; and his youngest sister Sandy Elmore Brandon of Tupelo.
