Samuel Caruthers Blakely, 97

October 30, 1928 – November 1, 2025

Tupelo-Samuel Caruthers Blakely died at the Manor on Lawndale on Saturday, November 1, 2025 two days after his 97th birthday. Born October 30, 1928, in Webster Co. to the late William Henry Blakely and Josephine Lishman Blakely, he was the last of 6 children born to this Union. Sam and his late wife, Motell, who died June 3, 2012 had one daughter, Frances Blakely Williams (Phillip) and they had one child, Blakely (Amy) and 1 great granddaughter, Riley Williams. Sam worked many years retiring as Assistant Manager of Copper’s Tie Plant facility in Grenada. He was a member of the United Methodist Church most of his life. He enjoyed workouts and coffee afterwards at the NMMC Wellness Center well into his 90’s

Per his request, his service and ground burial will be private. Burial will be next to his wife at Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery in rural Carole County, Miss.
