Sandra Tackett, 66

December 7, 1957  –  November 9, 2024

Sandra Kaye Murphree Tackett, affectionately known as Sandra to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024, in Southaven, Mississippi. Born on December 7, 1957, in New Albany, Mississippi, Sandra’s life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and gentle kindness that touched everyone she knew.

Sandra’s journey began as the cherished daughter of Augustus Wiley Murphree and Mary Grace Strawn Murphree. Her life was one of deep familial connections and enduring love. She was the beloved wife of her late husband, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage until his passing in July 2024. Sandra’s legacy continues through her devoted daughter, Nikki Tackett Fowler (Richard); her sons, William Tackett (Belinda), and James Tackett (Lindsay); and her adored grandchildren, Angelina Fitzgerald, Jamie Fitzgerald, Kendyll Tackett, and Nate Tackett. While she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her grandson Ryan Tackett, and her brother John Daniel Murphree, the memories they shared will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved them.

Sandra’s work life was marked by a job career in the furniture industry and various other jobs, where she held several management positions, before her retirement. Her work ethic and leadership were an inspiration to her colleagues, and her contributions to the industry were significant and valued. Sandra’s professional associations and friendships formed during her career were a source of pride and fulfillment.

Beyond her professional achievements, Sandra’s passions were manifold. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—crocheting blankets was not just a hobby but a way of wrapping her loved ones in the warmth of her care. She was an avid reader and enjoyed a good book. Her green thumb flourished in her vegetable garden and amidst the flowers she tended with such care, each bloom a testament to her nurturing spirit.

But perhaps Sandra’s most defining trait was her fierce love for her family. She was the heart of every family gathering, the quiet strength in times of need, and the unwavering support in every endeavor her children and grandchildren undertook. Sandra’s love was a beacon that guided her family through life’s challenges and celebrations alike.

Those who knew Sandra would describe her as loving, kind, and gentle—a trinity of virtues that she embodied with effortless grace. Her smile could light up a room, and her kindness left an indelible mark on the lives of those she encountered. Sandra’s gentle demeanor was a source of comfort and peace to all, making her a cherished friend, a loving mother and grandmother, and a respected member of her community.

As we bid farewell to Sandra Kaye Murphree Tackett, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love.
