New Albany Police Chief, Chris Robertson, gave this information to NAnewsweb for release on Thursday, September 14, 2017. The information relates to a story released Wednesday regarding a local search for a missing man from Collierville, TN:

“After talking with family members and investigators from the Collierville police department early Wednesday afternoon, we determined that Eric Bonner was probably still in New Albany,” said New Albany Police Chief Chris Robertson. “Bonner is not known to have any acquaintances or other connections to New Albany. We started a search using a special canine unit a little before 3 PM, Wednesday afternoon.

“A short while later, a body was found in the wooded area immediately south of Renasant Drive in New Albany. The body was identified by family members as that of Eric Bonner. The apparent cause of death was hanging by his own hand.”

Robertson said autopsy results and other physical evidence will be used to make an official identification of the body and an official determination of the cause of death.
