Shelby Bagwell, 83

July 7, 1942  –  March 2, 2026

Shelby Anne Gregory Bagwell, 83, was called home by her loving Lord and Savior on March 2nd, 2026. She entered this world on July 7th, 1942, in Union County, Mississippi, and departed it from the comfort of North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Her life was a living testament to the Christian values she held dear, and she left an indelible mark on all those she touched.

Shelby’s journey through life was shared with her devoted husband of 65 years, Thomas Bagwell. Together they nurtured a family that would be the pride and joy of Shelby’s life. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lisa Anne Bagwell Darling; her brother, Bobby Gregory; her four cherished grandchildren, Zach Verrell, Les Darling, Dustin Bagwell, and Hannah Bagwell; as well as her adoring great-grandchildren, Aria Darling, Rosie Darling, Charlee Grace Darling, and Ollie Ward Bagwell. While her parents, Alvie Willis Gregory and Gladys Whitehead Gregory; her son, Anthony Ray Bagwell; great-grandson, Wyatt Darling; sister, Patsy Washington; and brothers, Wilburn Gregory and Willis Gregory, predeceased her, the legacy they left continues to thrive in the family they raised together.

Known for her dedication and work ethic, Shelby retired from a fulfilling career at Benchcraft Furniture. Yet, it was her role within the Beulah Baptist Church that truly encapsulated her giving spirit and community involvement. For many years, Shelby was very active in her church, touching the lives of countless young souls as she taught the Primary Sunday School Class. Her unwavering faith and devotion were evident in every aspect of her service to her church and community.

Shelby’s creative flair shone in her skills as a quilter; she turned fabrics and threads into tangible memories for those she loved. An excellent seamstress and a wonderful cook, her hands were seldom idle, always working on a project or a meal that would bring comfort and joy to others. There was nothing more important to Shelby than her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she absolutely adored. Each visit, each hug, each shared laugh was a treasure she held close to her heart.

As Shelby steps into the presence of her Savior, she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and guide her family and all who knew her. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she touched, as they strive to live up to the example of kindness and dedication she set forth. Shelby Anne Gregory Bagwell will be profoundly missed, but her spirit remains a gentle guidepost pointing towards compassion, commitment, and the eternal love of family.
