Sheriff’s office participates in LeBonheur fundraiser
Officers of the Union County Sheriff’s Office participated in a fundraiser for LeBonheur Children’s Hospital on Saturday, July 6 at the New Albany Walmart.
Using the theme “Doing Time for LeBonheur” Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards and Deputy Sheriff Teresa Hester, the department’s D.A.R.E. officer were “incarcerated” in a “jail cell.”
Visitors to the store were asked to donate “bail money” for their release.
The sheriff’s office raised $534 for LeBonheur.
Walmart is a sponsor of the D.A.R.E. anti-drug education program conducted continually in public schools for the sheriff’s office.
LeBonheur is a 255-bed tertiary care hospital located in downtown Memphis. The hospital cares for 14,000 patients each year.
