Sheryl Aldridge, 77

Sheryl Janet Prescott Aldridge passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on February 10, 1948, in New Albany, Mississippi, Sheryl’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her passion for education, and the deep love she held for her family.



Sheryl’s journey in education began when she obtained her Masters Degree in Education, and began teaching at Myrtle School system, where she dedicated two years to nurturing young minds. Her commitment to teaching led her to the New Albany Schools, where she found her calling and eventually retired after many years of devoted service. Sheryl’s influence extended beyond the classroom, touching the lives of countless students and colleagues with her kindness and wisdom.

In her leisure, Sheryl enjoyed in the company of her cat, “Little G,” and took pleasure in the simple joys of life. A devout Christian, Sheryl was an integral part of the New Albany Presbyterian Church community. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her. Sheryl’s love for her grandchildren knew no bounds, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She is survived by her loving brother, Eddy Prescott; her devoted sons, Joey Aldridge and his wife, Tracey, Chad Aldridge and his wife, Janet; her cherished daughter, Janet Aldridge Burgeson and her husband, Tracey. Sheryl’s legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Brad Aldridge, Grace Aldridge (Seth Powell), Paige Todd (Gaige), Adalyn Henderson (Rives), Isabella Aldridge, Gaby Ositis (Clayton Bridges), Eva Catherine Aldridge, Natalie Ositis, Brayden Burgeson, Taylor Ann Burgeson, and Samuel Burgeson; and her treasured great-grandchildren, West Aldridge, Harden Todd, Kasen Todd, and Clayton Todd, and many special nieces and nephews.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents, George Oliver and Evelyn Rulon Prescott, husband, James David Aldridge, beloved sister, Judy Wilbanks (Hall), and her sister-in-law, Jo Kathryn Prescott.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 13, at 2:00pm with a visitation being from 10:00am until the start of the service at 2:00 at New Albany Presbyterian Church with Bro. Bill Everett and Bro. Stephen Ewing officiating.

Pallbearers will be Brad Aldridge, Brayden Burgeson, Samuel Burgeson, Will Cherry, Ben Cherry, Matt Cherry and Bill Prescott.
