Homeland Security warns concerning hoax messages on social media

Union County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Director Curt Clayton wants the public to be aware of the following message:

Please see attached image. As reported by Mississippi Office of Homeland Security (MOHS), this messaging is a HOAX. Please ensure all of your folks know this is bad information. Topics such as this, if they ever come about, will have robust media coverage and official announcements.

Please help dispell some of the rumors people are passing. If you don’t see official notification via media sources, local, state or federal agencies, its just a rumor or unofficial. Just like you, we are spending an inordinate amount of time dealing with rumors and reports of “presumptive cases” for local sources. If someone reports something to you, do a search of local, state and national sources for validity. That is exactly what we do each time we are asked to research issues.
