Star Marie Carroll, 65

September 16, 1960 – October 19, 2025

Tupelo – On Sunday, October 19, 2025, after a courageous battle, Star was able to trade her earthly pain for heavenly peace. Born to Bill and Joan Morris on September 16, 1960, in Waukegan, Illinois. She spent the majority of her life in Northeast Mississippi after her parents relocated the family.

Star was the calm in every storm for anyone in her life, the safety net who caught you when you felt like you were free-falling. She was the roadblock and the speed bump, quietly solving problems miles before they ever reached you. Star was the true embodiment of quiet strength and resilience. Even in the hardest seasons, she met life with grace and grit, never complaining and always caring. A natural caregiver and confidant, she had a gift for making people feel safe and understood. She loved to shine the spotlight on everyone around her but rarely on herself.

She is survived by her husband, Greg Carroll; her children, Justin and his wife, Hannah Sullivan, Jennifer Carroll, and Jordan Poppelreiter and her husband, Justin (Jutty) Pugh; her grandchildren, Aaden Carroll and Jaelynn Cooper; her siblings, Leslie (Phillip) McDonald, Mike (Renee) Morris, Mary (Jerry) Pierce). She is also survived by two very special caregivers, Kayla (Wes) Smith and Monica (Jim) Hauss, whose devoted care and love brought comfort and strength throughout her battle, and by her sweet dog, Bailey, whose love for her was unmatched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Joan Morris; her late husband, George Poppelreiter; her son, Michael Simmons; and her beloved dog, Ali Gator, with whom she shared a bond and love that knew no end.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Pegues, Tupelo.

Services honoring the life of Mrs. Star will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with Bro. Cory Lee Officiating.

Pallbearers will be Brian Austin, Jamison Logan, Wes Smith, Aaden Carroll, Jonathan Cox, and Curt Reeves.

Because of her, we are stronger, softer, and endlessly loved. Her light remains steady, warm, and woven into all of us.
