Steve “Dude” Freeman, 73

April 2, 1952 – June 17, 2025

Steve Allen Freeman, 73, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. Born April 2, 1952 to Devon and Gail Freeman in New Albany, MS. Steve worked in the furniture business for many years and retired as plant manager at Southern Motion in Pontotoc, MS. Steve enjoyed playing softball in his early years and spending time with his friends playing dominoes at “The Camp”.

Services to celebrate his life will be on Friday, June 20, at 2:00pm at United Funeral Service with Bro. Johnny Rakestraw officiating. A visitation will be from 11:00am until the start of the service. Pallbearers are Johnny Hogue, Richard Messer, Keith Treadaway, Chip LaMontagne, Paul Rakestraw, and Mack Porch, honorary will be Terry Hill, Glen Coleman, Alan Coleman, Steve Thomas, “The Camp”, and Southern Motion friends.

He is survived by one daughter, Valerie Frakes (Josh), one sister, Lisa Norwood, (Robert) one brother, Terry Freeman (Janet), two grandchildren Paxton and Easton Frakes and two nephews, Will Norwood and Josh Freeman. He is preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents, James and Ludie Freeman and Lewis and Jewel Drummond.
