Steve Coker, 55

October 6, 1969 – February 27, 2025

Steven “Steve” Coker passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Union County, at the age of 55. He was born on October 6, 1969, to Bill and Susan Duggar Coker of Blue Springs, MS. He was a graduate of East Union Attendance Center (1987) and Mississippi State University (1992). He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Susan Coker. He is survived by his wife, Jada Hopkins Coker and three sons (four-legged) Jaxx, Knox and Nash of Blue Springs, MS and one sister, Susanne Coker, of Blue Springs, MS.

For anyone that knew Steve knew his love for fire-fighting and farming. Steve retired as the City Fire Chief from the New Albany Fire Department on February 28, 2020, after serving 9 years with them due to his battle with cancer. He loved the fire service and moved it to the next level and left them with a great foundation to build from. He was a founding member of East Union Fire Department, served as Union County Fire Coordinator and served as the Northeast District Vice President of the Mississippi Fire Chief’s Association. When not being a fire fighter or a first responder, he was worried about cotton pickers, tractors and all things to do with Coker Farms. He loved hunting and fishing when he was able to go.

Services will be at Ellistown Baptist Church in Blue Springs. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 1 from 5:00 pm to 8:00pm and on Sunday from 1:00 pm until the start of the service at 3:00 pm with Bro. Mike Powell officiating. Pallbearers are Phil Adair, Caleb Coker, Kerry Coker, Eddie Humphreys, Trey Humpherys, Tim Hatcher, Jason McDaniel and Kevin Rowan. Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Coker and Dustin Duggar along with members of the New Albany Fire Department and East Union Fire Department.
