Storm downs several trees in New Albany
At least five trees in New Albany were knocked down by wind during the night/morning of April 2nd and 3rd, 2017.
There was minor damage to some homes but no injuries were reported.
New Albany Lights, Gas, and Water ( NALGW) crews were busy throughout the day Monday with chain saws and heavy equipment cleaning up fallen trees. One large tree blocked the intersection of Broad and Madison Streets. Some of the trees downed were very mature, two feet or more in diameter, and were uprooted or broken off near the ground.
There was some interruption of utility service, but NALGW Manager Bill Mattox said he expected electrical service to be restored by the end of the day Monday. Exceptions would instances in which electrical service components were pulled loose from houses.
