Public hearing on new ordinance for mobile homes, tiny homes, campers and RVs
(Timestamp 9:05) Randy Owen announced a public hearing on November 17, 2025, to discuss changes in mobile home, tiny home, and camper policies. Board Attorney Chandler Rogers added that current mobile home policy and tiny home (or “portable home”) policy are separate. A plan will be presented to combine those separate policies, plus policies on campers and RVs, into a single ordinance for the public’s review and for the board’s consideration. The policy will be available at the Chancery Clerk’s office for the public to review prior to the public hearing.
Department items
(Timestamp 10:27) The board approved agenda items 2(a)-6(a) with minimal discussion.
(Timestamp 14:35) When the approval for inventory deletions for the Sheriff’s Department came up, Sheriff Edwards said that a lot of the equipment to be discarded were radio components that still worked but were not usable with the current system. He asked whether it could be sold off. “It’s a lot of stuff, I hate to just throw it away”.
A member of the audience spoke up and said that most of the time you can’t get anything for this equipment because it’s so obsolete that no one else uses it either. He said they had the same problem with outdated fire department equipment.
Sam Taylor asked the Sheriff, “Jimmy, are you having a yard sale any time soon?” which elicited some laughter. Sheriff Edwards suggested they consider putting the equipment up for auction in the spring. In the meantime, the equipment is in a secure building. Terry Johnson said auctioning the equipment was a possibility.
Tax office
(Timestamp 17:20) Tax Assessor Tameri Dunnam presented a list of unpaid taxes for 2024. She had compiled a list for each of the supervisors’ districts. Those who hadn’t paid their taxes had received three letters and will have a tax lien as of November 1, 2025, if their taxes aren’t paid. Dunnam said the tax office contracted with American Financial Credit Services three years ago. They have collected $58,296 in tax money over those three years. The board approved the insolvency list and the surrendered tag list.
The board then adjourned until October 20, 2025.
