Supervisors transact routine business, approve expenditures, pay changes and more

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS approved routine items during their May 1, 2023 monthly meeting, including statements of expenditures for the Tax Office and Sheriff’s Department, meal logs for the Jail, claims docket payments, Board minutes, Road Department Work Schedule for May 2023, Solid Waste Register, and Medical Examiner Statement of Fees. The County Administrator received approval to delete an old computer from inventory, a manual check was approved for $10,343.45 to Black’s Hauling, and quotes were discussed to replace the central heat and air unit for the Health Department building.

The Chancery Clerk approved/disapproved submitted Homestead Disallows by the Department of Revenue this item will be updated accordingly. They also approved the Request to Remove Structure from Bridge Inventory.

The Circuit Clerk sought approval for payment to the Circuit Clerk and Election Commissioners for services rendered, 5 Claim Forms and a change in voting precinct. They also requested the deletion of the Express Poll voting equipment from the inventory. The Supervisors authorized Coroner travel for training in Flowood in May and for a conference in Biloxi in June, including the Deputy Coroner.

At the Sheriff’s Department, Gunner Higgins was granted a Longevity Pay Increase as Corporal, and Karen Coleman as Jailer. The Road Department discussed culvert quotes and advertising for 100 Hp skid steers. In the Tax Office, the Surrendered Tag List for March was approved. The Volunteer Fire Department requested the Approval of Fire Service contracts and Mutual Aid Agreement for Volunteer Fire Departments. The meeting was recessed until May 15, 2023.
