Suspect dead following vehicle pursuit by Union Co. sheriff’s deputies

Early Monday evening, July 1,  Union County deputies started pursuit of a suspect vehicle in the vicinity of County Road 102.

According to information NAnewsweb.com has received from reliable sources, the suspect vehicle fled southward and shots were fired.

The chase ended somewhere on Highway 9 in Pontotoc County at around 7 pm.

The person in the pursued vehicle is dead. It is not known whether the person died of gunshot wounds or from injuries from another source such as a motor vehicle wreck.

Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards told NAnewsweb around 7:30 pm. that no law enforcement personnel has been injured.

Our information is that the Pontotoc County sheriff’s office and the Mississippi Highway Patrol were involved in the situation. We are told that the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) has been asked to investigate.
