This weekend offers a variety of entertainment in New Albany
New Albany, MS- Two events Friday evening kicked off a busy weekend of live entertainment in downtown New Albany.
The annual Arts, Beats & Eats event was a sellout at The Basement, a popular events venue at the Tanglefoot Trailhead in downtown New Albany. Local artists displayed their creations, libations and appetizers were served by Tallahatchie Gourmet, and Andrew Yurkow and musical friends entertained.
Opened about a year ago, The Basement is a unique venue utilizing underground space never used before in the 100 years the Henderson Building has stood at the southeast corner of Bankhead and Railroad Streets in downtown New Albany. Those who may have visited Underground Atlanta in its heyday will find it familiar, and The Basement has grown rapidly in popularity. Friday night, its patio was newly decorated with plants, furniture and water features by Deck Your Yards & More of Myrtle.
The main floor of the Henderson Building will house Ciao Chow, a brand new restaurant set to open later this month.
The popular annual variety show, Hee Haw, was on the stage Friday night at the Cine Theater in the Magnolia Civic Center. It was the second of two performances with a third and final performance scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
The last of ten free concerts this summer in the Levitt AMP series at the Riverview Stage at New Albany’s Park-Along-the-River will start at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night the Eisenhauer Band will be the opening act and the feature act will be the Holy Ghost Electric Show.
