Thomas Alexander Hutson, 36
March 22, 1989 – April 25, 2025
“The willingness of America’s veterans to sacrifice for our country has earned them our lasting gratitude.”
After a life well lived, dedicated to serving his country, and lending a helping hand to anyone in need, our brother in Christ, Mr. Thomas Alexander Hutson, known as Alex to all those who knew him best departed this life on April 25, 2025, at his home in Pontotoc, at the age of 36.
A graveside service with military honors will be at 4 PM Friday May 2, 2025, in Friendship Cemetery in Ecru, Mississippi, where Bro. Jerius Maxey and family and friends will gather to celebrate Alex’s life, share cherished memories, and offer their final farewells. His outgoing spirit, generosity, and love for everyone will be dearly missed by those fortunate enough to have known him.
Born March 22, 1989, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Mississippi, Alex was the son of Mrs. Mary Little Stevens. He received his education from North Pontotoc High School, enrolling in the United State Army National Guard, where he took great pride in serving his country. Adopting to the statement, “Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.”, Alex was a firm believer in doing right by others, working hard for what you have, and treating everyone equally. His life served as a testament to the bible verse, “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.” 1 John 4:18-19.
A saved Christian and member of Ecru Baptist Church, Alex had a wonderful love for the great outdoors, embracing every moment in nature. Weather he was on the pond bank fishing with his cousins, or simply soaking in all of God’s beautiful creation, he loved it all. His outgoing personality left a lasting mark on everyone, but even more impressive was the impact he had on all the lives of those around him. He never met a stranger, as he could make conversation with anyone, looking out for others more than himself. You could always count on him being in your corner, as he was very supportive, always rooting for everyone continually. Above all, Alex’s heart belonged to his family the most. He was a beloved son, great brother, loving cousin, loved grandson, and true friend. All of his nieces and nephews thought he hung the moon, referring to him as the “Fun Uncle”, playing in the pool with them during the summer, and being there for them always.
There would never be enough room to write about all the things Alex did while he was on this earth. In all honesty to know Alex was to love him, as he was as fine of a fella as they came. His faithfulness to family was evident to see, commitment to his country and fellowman never went unnoticed, and no stone was left unturned in the way he lived life. Although we were not ready to say goodbye, we can’t help but rejoice for the time we had spent together and find comfort knowing God’s grace will be sufficient until we can be reunited once again.
In addition to his mother and stepfather, Mary and Tim Stevens, memories will continue to be shared by two sisters, Amber Ackerkman and Sherry Schultz (John), three brothers, Robert Hutson (Ashley), Joshua Stevens (Bree), and T. J. Stevens, all his cousins, especially Nichole Jarvis and Heather Little, his loving aunts and uncles, special nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of friends.
He is preceded in death by grandmother, Darelina Little Hutson, grandfathers, Elmer Hutson and James Little, and his niece, Abigail Schultz.
Pallbearers will be Josh Stevens, T. J. Stevens, Dusty Jarvis, Landon Little, Trey Little, and Caden Smith, with Honorary pallbearers being Ronald Homan and Copper Hutson.
