Timmy Smithey, 66

July 10, 1959  –  December 14, 2025

Timmy Russ Smithey, known fondly as Tim by friends and family, passed away on December 14, 2025, at NMMC in Tupelo, MS, at the age of 66. Born on July 10, 1959, in New Albany, Mississippi, Timmy was the cherished only child of Hubert Stokes Smithey and Mary Edith Owen Smithey, both of whom preceded him in death. His life was a testament to the strength and joy that one person can bring into the world, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Tim was a man of many talents and a master of his craft as a self-employed boat mechanic. He combined his love for fishing with his mechanical expertise. Timmy’s passion for the outdoors was matched by his love for country music. He was not only a singer of country music but a lover of the arts, taking pleasure in the simple things that life had to offer. He just enjoyed living his good and simple life.

Beyond his work, Timmy was an avid martial artist, dedicating himself to the discipline of kickboxing. He lived his life with the same focus and determination that he brought to his martial arts practice.

Timmy’s legacy is carried on through his beloved children, Rusty Smithey and Savanna Smithey Bowling. His role as a father was one he held with the utmost seriousness and love, instilling in his children the values of hard work, kindness, and the importance of family. His grandchildren, Autumn Schlueter, Jacob Bowling, and Joshua Bowling, and his great-grandchild, Amber Elliott, brought immense joy to his life.

Services to honor his life will be Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at United Funeral Service. A visitation will be Monday, December 15, 2025, from 5:00 ~ 7:00 pm. Burial will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
