Tom Cooper selected as Marshall of 2017 New Albany Christmas Parade

Tom Cooper has been selected as the New Albany Christmas Parade Grand Marshall 2017. The parade will be on Monday, November 27th.

Cooper was born in Vicksburg, MS, and graduated from Anguilla, MS High School. He received his BS degree from Mississippi State University.

While raising his family the New Albany area, he served as New Albany’s Ward One Alderman, and as Mayor of New Albany. He was also the Union County Chancery Clerk, and served his community as a volunteer fireman for over 30 years.

Cooper is a member of First United Methodist Church. He served for 27 years as the Sunday School Department Secretary, in addition to service on the church’s Administrative Board and the Board of Trustees.

He is a former Chairman of Three Rivers Planning and Development District, a member of Three Rivers Solid Waste Authority a former President of the North Mississippi Mayors’ Association.

Cooper, a former member of the Union County Development Association, is currently a member of the Main Street Association, the Union County Historical Society. He is a member, and Paul Harris Fellow, of the New Albany Rotary Club, which he has served as Secretary and President.
