Two killed in “wrong way” two-car collision on I-22

A two-car collision near Myrtle on Interstate 22 killed the drivers of both vehicles late Friday morning, August 31.

Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards said one vehicle was traveling east (toward Tupelo) in the west-bound lanes of I-22 when it collided with another car, correctly going west in the west-bound lanes.

The drivers of both cars were dead at the collision site shortly after 10 am.

Sheriff Edwards said neither victim was from Union County. One vehicle had Lee County tags and the other car was from Alabama.

There were no other passengers in either vehicle except the drivers.
