Union County Supervisors handle several items in brief February 22 meeting

A compact Union County board agenda on Feb. 22 meant a short meeting in which several routine, but significant, items of business were handled.

The Union County Board of Supervisors held its second monthly meeting on a Tuesday. The  regular meeting date, Monday, February 21, was observed as President’s Day.

The board approved voiding old outstanding checks, such as checks that were either written in error or have been lost and reissued.

The January 2022 monthly budget report was reviewed by the board and approved.

A Notice of Hearing was set for the cleaning of a private property on County Road 51. The hearing will be held March 21, at the second monthly meeting of the board. The property is said to have become “a health and safety issue for the community.

Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Curt Clayton discussed with the Supervisors quotes on diving gear for EMA. The supervisors approved a bid of $10,058.11 by Dive Tech International. The equipment will be paid for by a grant.

The board approved payment to the Chancery Court for the Chancery Court term months of October – February, in the amount of $8,670.00.

Payments of $100 per diem were approved for the Circuit Court Clerk and each of the five Election Commissioners. Payment for 6 days served was approved for each, $600 each or a total of $3,600.

The next meeting of the Union County Board of Supervisors will be Monday, March 7, 2022, at 10:00am.
