Union County’s Master Gardeners are planning on “Rolling into Spring”

It’s only the first day of September 2015, and the Union County Master Gardeners are already planning their 2016 Home and Garden Show.

About a dozen-and-a-half of them posed yesterday evening for photographs they intend to use to promote their show next April. Plants loaned by the Lowes garden center, a vintage pickup truck, brightly colored T-shirts and bright smiles helped create a colorful image. Healthy gardeners’ sun tans also helped.

Pat James, a Master Gardeners leader, is mostly hidden in the group picture, so we include this picture of him. It was his birthday. Did the dude say he was 46?

The New Albany Home and Garden Show on Saturday, April 9th, will be the eighth such show sponsored by the group. The theme will be “Rolling Into Spring.”

Last year’s show at the Union County Fairgrounds drew 2,800 visitors, an increase of about a thousand attendees over the 2014 event.

The 1965 light blue Chevrolet pickup truck in the photograph is owned by Allen McDaniel, who said he had owned it “for about 40 years.”

A major change for next year’s Home and Garden Show will be its location. The Master Gardeners are moving their show from the Fairgrounds to the downtown New Albany area that has been the venue for many other successful events during recent years.
