Union County Heritage Museum reopens

The Union County Heritage Museum has reopened on a limited basis, following CDC protocols.

Director Jill Smith said the museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday for now.

Visitors must bring masks and wear them when in the museum; hand sanitizer is available. Occupancy is limited to 20 total or 10 per gallery, although the museum and galleries are large enough that maintaining spacing is no problem.

She added that in addition to other measures, the museum is sanitized three times a day.

Although most museum programs were cancelled, the staff is planning to have a small event for neighborhood children from 10 to 11 a.m. May 21.

Retiring NAHS teacher Lee Ann Thompson will also hold an art class in June, but due to spacing requirements will be limited to eight people, four in each room at the Art House.

Smith said she is working toward having the Museum Madness program for children next month as well.

For more information call the museum at 662-538-0014.
