UPDATE: Victim identified in Alpine house fire

Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green has released the name of the victim of the house fire in the Alpine community.
Dead is Evelyn Hutcheson, age 89.

A fire in a house in the Alpine community near the Lee/Union County line early Saturday evening, January 15, took at least one life.
Equipment and personnel from multiple Lee and Union county fire departments were called to the scene on County Road 247 shortly after 6 p.m.
Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green confirmed to NEMiss.News that one person perished in the fire. Coroner Green could not release the name of the deceased Saturday evening because she was not certain relatives of the victim had been informed.
The fire actually occurred on the Lee County side of the county line.
No information was available as to injuries to any other possible victims.
Fire fighting units who responded to the fire included Lee County’s Cedar Hill Fire Department. Also responding from Union County were New Albany Fire Department’s Rescue One unit, Alpine Fire Department, East Union Fire Department, and Northeast Fire Department.
