Van crashes into Glendale Road home, law enforcement is investigating
A 2.5 ton truck crashed through an occupied house on Glendale Road Monday afternoon, sending emergency vehicles speeding to the scene.
At about 4:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, a Chevrolet 1500 van left the pavement and crashed through the front wall of a residence in the 500 block of Glendale Road on the west side of New Albany.
Preliminary reports indicated the 6.5-foot-wide van went between two individuals in the front part of the house, but probably did not strike either of them directly, although both were hit by debris. The truck apparently passed within inches of the two people. Both were receiving medical attention as this was written, but preliminary reports indicated neither of them is seriously hurt.
The vehicle came to rest at what appeared to be near the center of the attractive, one-story brick home.
One emergency worker at the scene said, “It was a miracle that neither of them was hurt badly.”
The van was marked with the signage of Advanced Heating and Air Conditioning, a firm located on West Bankhead St. in New Albany.
Two ambulances from Baptist Hospital, two fire engines from the New Albany Fire Department, and numerous law enforcement officers responded to the scene.
The circumstances that caused the truck to leave the roadway are not known at this time. NAnewsweb.com does not know the identity of the van’s driver at this time. New Albany Police Chief Chris Robertson said early Monday evening that the incident is being investigated.
NAnewsweb.com will update this story if more information becomes available.
