Vaniece Ivy, 64

February 5, 1961 – May 12, 2025

OLD UNION COMMUNITY / SHANNON – Cynthia Vaniece Hadaway Ivy crossed from this life to her life in eternity and, now completely pain free, rests in the arms of her Lord and Savior and has reacquainted with loved ones gone before. A lady of great faith and promise, Vaniece realized the promises of her lifelong faith and crossed over from Sanctuary Hospice House after a long period of declining health. She was 64 years old. Born in Pontotoc on Feb. 5, 1961 as the only child born to the late Lowell Patrick “Pat” Hadaway and Charlotte Ann McCord Kingsley, she attended the North Pontotoc Public Schools. After dating for only four months, Vaniece married the love of her life Scott Ivy on Jan. 10, 1981- a marriage of 44 years, 5 months and 2 days at her death.

Never afraid of work, Vaniece spent her working career as an industrial worker at Tri-County, Arvin, Hunter Sadler, Hunter Douglas and Sam’s Club. Before becoming disabled, her last employment was with Lanier Clothing. Always a people person, she became a substitute teacher at Shannon, Verona and Plantersville Schools and loved her students supremely. Vaniece loved her Lord and attending worship at NorthStar, where she found spiritual manna for daily living and was surrounded by people who loved her and saw that her needs were met. She had a magnetic personality always filled to the brim with kindness, caring and loving. A giver of all she had to others, Vaniece will be long remembered as a faithful Christian lady who lived by the golden rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

A service celebrating her life will take place Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in the Sadie M. Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with her Pastors, Terry Ledbetter and Troy Comer, officiating. Private burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 PM-7PM today (Tue., 5/13) and from Noon-service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed at 2 PM Wed. at hollandfuneraldirectors.com/Live-streaming, and will be archived thereafter.
