April 20, 1943June 10, 2025

Verna Mae Boltinghouse Langford, age 82, of West Point, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her home on June 10, 2025.

Born April 20, 1943, in Indiana, Verna was the daughter of Vern and Margaret Bevan Boltinghouse. She dedicated her life to service, retiring as a police officer with the City of West Point. Her commitment to her community and her work as an officer were among her greatest sources of pride.

Verna is survived by her devoted husband, Leo Langford; daughters Patty Stange (Corey) and Pam Roberts; son John Langford (Laura); her beloved sisters Shirley Miller, Sallie Fiers, and Judy Radeck; and brothers Gary Boltinghouse and Tom Boltinghouse. She was the cherished grandmother of five and great-grandmother of five. She also held a special place in her heart for her niece, Dale Huffman, whom she loved as a daughter.

She was preceded in death by her sister Beth Boltinghouse, her granddaughter Courtney Moyer, her son-in-law Mike Roberts, and her brother-in-law Charles Fiers.

Verna loved deeply and lived fully. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, her animals, tending her garden, and serving her community as a police officer—a role she held with honor and dedication.

The Langford family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the West Point Police Department, North Mississippi Medical Hospice, Coroner Alvin Carter, North Mississippi Medical Center hospital staff and ambulance service, and the West Point Fire Department for their compassionate care and support.

A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to St. Jude or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
