Wanda Gail Patterson Morris, 75
January 3, 1950 – August 31, 2025
Nettleton-From birth to death, Wanda Gail Patterson Morris made a difference in the world in which she lived. Her delightful personality, her solid work ethic, her heart of gold for serving others and her devotion to God and family were her hallmarks of her 75 year earthly pilgrimage. Wanda Gail Patterson Morris was born in Nettleton on January 3, 1950 to the late Neel Hood Patterson Green and Willie Loyce “Shorty” Patterson. She spent most of her life in Nettleton where she was devoted to enriching her hometown in numerous ways, encouraging others and giving and giving. Wanda departed this life from the NMMC Hospice Unit after a gallant battle with cancer.
She married the love of her life, John Charles Morris, Jr. on August 26, 1967-a marriage of 54 years until his death on Dec. 31, 2021. Wanda graduated from Nettleton High School in 1967 with high honors. She was an all county girls basketball champion, cheerleader, most athletic, Homecoming Queen, FFA sweetheart, Miss Nettleton High School and Best All Around.
A true Golden Rule lady, Wanda was known for helping all of her friends, family and neighbors and chance she had. She was a master quilter, seamstress, embroiderer, and a gifted painter. She had a green thumb and loved flowers and flower gardening especially roses in pink and yellow, hydrangeas, daisies, and dogwood but no Bradford pears. Wanda loved to read and had an arsenal of books. She was a strong supporter of the Nettleton Public Library and was the best Wife, Mother and Grandmother ever! Her presence among her family and many friends will be sorely missed.
A service celebrating her life will take place at 3 PM Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025 at First Baptist Church-Nettleton with her high school classmate, Rev. Danny Dabbs officiating. Private burial will be in the Nettleton Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon-service time on Saturday only at First Baptist Church.
Wanda is survived by two daughters: Mandy Jackson (Mitchell) and Brandi Dabbs (Steven)
Grandchildren: Christin Graves (Garry), John Evan Jackson (Kayla), Dawson Dabbs (Kayleigh), and Everett Dabbs (Lily) Her great grands: Wen Graves, Hazel Graves, Gea Vivian Graves, Livi Jackson, Fisher Jackson and Jett Jackson; her siblings: Betty Jo Williams (Ronnie), Jeaniece Sheffield (Bobby), Sandy Rea (Charles) and Tommy Green; her nieces and nephews: Lysha Lentz, Mike Patterson, Tammy Loveless, Greg Sheffield, Kelly Wiggington, Brian Rea, Jonathan Williams and Jeffrey Rea.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nell Hood Patterson Green and Willie Loyce (Shorty) Patterson; her step father, Bodeen Gree; her husband, Charles Morris; her siblings Eugene Patterson and Linda Patterson; her nephews, Darrell Patterson and Heath Williams and a grandson, John Thomas Dabbs.
